Norwegians

Phew! Just finished an exhausting but great mission with a team from Norway that has been with us for 10 days.

We went into the university and were meeting lots of people and building on the relationships we already had. It has been a good time. We had "Elvis" performing for us at one point, the idea being that we attracted a crowd. We had gained permission the day before and had set up the sound equipment and Elvis had just appeared for us, when the security came and told us to stop. The permission we had been given was over-ruled and we had to put everything away again. However, we managed to get into conversation with a number of people and they'll remember the time Elvis came!

Together with a strong desire to preach the gospel and the sense of fun that the team from Norway brought proved good combination. After meeting people in the day, we invited them to join us in the evening at various cafes, etc around Skopje. One evening we went to a jazz club and we were all dancing and the bar staff brought us free drinks because we'd improved the atmosphere in the place!

On Sunday a number of people we had invited came to Glasnost - the new congregation of our church, which is aimed at a different culture (mainly young people who like contemporary music etc). Diane spoke about God looking at what is on the inside rather than the outside and afterwards one of people we'd invited was talking about this, so it obviously had an impact on him. The new people we've met seem to have accepted us well, so we're praying that they'll fully accept the gospel in their lives and grow in Jesus.
